On June 7, 2008 the association honored the local heroes of our community, who served to protect the people and national interest.

The programme started with:

Singing of the Philippine and American national anthem:


Treas. Belle Limoge led the singing of the Philippine National Anthem entitled "Lupang Hinirang"

Former FIL-AM Pre-teen runner up Michelle Palada sang the "Star Spangled Banner"


Dir. Zucette Lumabas and Committee Chair of Talent Showcase sang the Philippine national anthem along with the crowd.


The local heroes to be recognized (from left to right) HM2 Imelda Victorino, HM2 Alvin Lleva, Sgt. Mark Frederickson and HMCS Eugene Abadilla stood with honor together with Asst. Treas. & FIL-AM Little Miss & Pre-teen Committee Chair Malou Hamto and dignitary Councilman Jack Feller, as they sing the national anthem.

Dir. Pete Cruz led the invocation.

Pres. Rica welcomes everyone who is present in this annual celebration.

Oceanside Library Staff Bradley Penner also did the opening remarks in behalf of the Oceanside Library and its Director Deborah Polich.

Pres. Rica of FIL-AM and Bradley of Friends of the Library talked about the cultural celebration - a symbol of the long friendship and cooperation between the two organizations

Ted Lintan serves as the emcee for this portion of the programme

Oceanside Mayor Wood made his well-delivered inspirational talk in honor of our local heroes.

Councilor Jerry Kern was also present during the ceremony.

Councilor Jack Feller honors our first awardee HMCS Eugene R. Abadilla

HM2 Alvin Lleva is our next local hero awardee.

Sgt. Mark I. Frederickson, another local hero, received the plaque from Oceanside
Mayor Wood.

The only female local hero awardee is HM2 Imelda R. Victorino making a short speech.

KOCT The Oceanside Channel cable cast team composed of Justin Thatcher, Alexis Sebring and some crew. They cover the event yearly for television viewing on Channels 18 and 19.

THERE ARE VENDORS OF FILIPINO FOOD, HANDICRAFT, SERVICES AND OTHER PRODUCTS


It was a feast of Filipino food from the vendors who participated in the event. The stream of people who came enjoyed the Filipino dishes and delicacies available.
