WELCOME
THE
CROWD
It was a sunny day on June 6, 2009 at the Oceanside Civic
Center in N. Coast Highway, Oceanside, California but the
crowd did not mind the heat as the 8th Annual Filipino Cultural
Celebration sizzles with great program and featured events,
not to mention the special guests who graced the occasion.
People gathered in front of the stage, around the fountain,
some just standing and walking, just having great time with
friends and family as they watched the show.
It was a show of elegance and style not to mention the uniqueness
of the attire each worn by the models. This fashion show was
organized by VP Mely Sivage (farthest left), who's been the
chair for many years. The costume was described by emcee Ted
Lintan.

The
ones who probably enjoyed the day most were the kids who watched
the events with full attention, awe and intent whether it
is their friends, family members, competitors or anyone who
are on stage.

OPENING
OF THE EVENT

The
whole morning of the celebration was excellently hosted by
Ted Lintan.

The
program started with the singing of the national anthem of
the Philippines by Dir. Wendy Abon and of the United States
by Michelle Palada

Invocation
was led by Mr. Pete Cruz.

The
event will not be complete without the inspirational talk
of the ever-supportive Oceanside Mayor James Wood.

Two
organizing bodies of the event represented by their leaders
- Pres. Rica Derosier and Library Head Deborah Polich gave
their opening message to welcome the crowd.
OUR
SPECIAL GUESTS AND VOLUNTEERS
The
celebration was made special because of the presence and the
continuous support of the Oceanside City Council headed by
Mayor Jim Wood, Councilmember Jack Feller and Councilmember
Rocky Chavez.

Other distinguished guests graced the occasion like Debbie
Nicastro, Mr. Jun Santos, Oceanside Sea Lions Officers Gloria
and Ed Ash, judges for the event, and the Miss Oceanside 2009
and her court.

The event will not be successful without the generous help
of these young volunteers as shown in this picture.

There
were also volunteers who served as emcee in event and had
added a touch of elegance to the celebration like :

Alexis Lauren Plaisted

Debbie Nicastro
THE
VENDORS
The
people came in hundreds not just to see the show but to have
a taste of Filipino food, buy handicrafts and other novelty
items, and check on services that the vendors offer. There
were at least 18 booths to be found to keep the crowd busy
shopping and browsing .
