It was a cloudy day on that Saturday of June the 12th,
not so different from the previous days for "June
gloom", as many call it, is here. However, the
9th Annual Filipino Cultural Celebration unrelentingly
gave life and vigor to the crowd from 10:30 AM until
4:00 PM.

The stage was decorated with a 8' x 24' tarpaulin
made and imported from the Philippines as the background
for the festive celebration. It depicted the various
tourist attractions of the country from north to south
- the Ifugao rice terraces of the north, Chocolate
Hills and Boracay of the Visayas and many others,
to the colorful vintas of Mindanao (south).

Excellent
emcee Ted Lintan is the main host for the event.

Mrs.
Fil-Am 2009 finalist LUCY DICKSON-AWDE led the singing
of the American national Anthem, Star Spangled Banner,
to the crowd.

FIL-AM
Sec. BELLE LIMOGE sang the Philippine National Anthem,
Lupang Hinirang, as the crowd joined the singing.

FIL-AM
Chair PETE CRUZ led the invocation with his heartfelt
spiritual message.

FIL-AM
President RICA DEROSIER rendered her message of inspiration
and appreciation.

Oceanside
Library Staff BRED PENNER delivered his speech, representing
the Oceanside Library and Friends of the Library,
as team mate of the FIL-AM association in making the
event possible.

Miss
FIL-AM 2009 DEJAH URBANOVITCH talked about the theme
of the event, having coined the slogan "Remembering
Our Past Together".

FIL-AM
Past President FELIX SAGUING pointed out some interesting
historical facts of Oceanside. He made an write-up
about the Philippine history in parallel of the Oceanside
history elaborating event's theme : Remembering
Our Past Together.

Miss
FIL-AM 2009 DEJAH URBANOVITCH introduced our guest
speaker Oceanside Mayor Jim Wood.

Guest
speaker Oceanside Mayor Jim Wood inspired everyone
by his message and charisma.

The
FIL-AM Cultural Association of North San Diego County,
represented by its president RICA DEROSIER, gave the
Honorable Mayor Jim Wood a plaque of appreciation
for his undying support to the organization and its
cause.

Hon.
Mayor Jim Wood accepting the award - his support to
the organization had been significant to the success
and growth of the association.

The
crowd got larger as the hours passed by to witness
the coronation of Mrs. FIL-AM 2010 ROSE WALLACE and
to celebrate with the
Little Miss Fil-Am 2010 winner MIKAELA PISON.

The crowd was not only entertained but also informed
about the Philippines.

The FIL-AM information booth displays books about
the Philippines, digital and the historical presentation
of Philippine and Oceanside.

History
made by PP Saguing who also manned the booth to personally
handle inquiries.

The
organization's booth also displays some Philippine
handicrafts.

The
Oceanside Public Library manned by their Staff has
their own booth as well to promote their services.
VENDORS
The
event was remarkably successful because of the good
turnout of vendors who participated this year. There
were at least seventeen (17) vendors selling their
products and services. There were vendors selling
Filipino food and delicacies, power coffee, jewelry,
home improvements, dental services, cosmetics, banking
and investments to memorial services. To show a few
