TALENT SHOWCASE 2010

The June 12th Filipino cultural celebration will not be complete without the SHOWCASE OF TALENT of gifted and artistic FIL-AM’s. It is a show that captivates the audience as performers demonstrate their abilities to sing, dance or play musical instruments


Ten (10) perfomers put life and sparked in the show as they demonstrate their talents. Joining them in the picture are from far right : Pres. Rica Derosier, Cochair Dulia Candelaria and Chair Zucette Lumabas. At the back (center) is Debbie Nicastro who emceed the program.


THE SHOW BEGINS....


Equally talented is Debbie Nicastro who is the host of the program, a very lively emcee and interactive with performers and audience as well.



Kristina Mercado, a professional entertainer, karaoke host and DJ, made a great opening for the show.


Charming Tatiana Robinson showed her grace and talent in singing.


Miss Fil-Am 2009 Dejah Urbanovitch demonstrated her talent once again by doing arnis.



Gale Abille made the young crowd enjoyed the beat!



Millet Fontillas and Rodel Hamto did such a lovely duet.



How could the crowd resist watching such a beautiful performer and great talent like Angelica Tolentino (Miss Pre-teen Fil-Am 2007)?

 


Jocelyn Atienza and Danielle Tuazon made such a great combination!!



Alyssa Arjona sings as good as she looks!



Doris Rodriguez's voice captivated the audience!



Special Guest Performer Beverly Pestano concluded the show with her soprano voice which wowed the audience and made them shout for "encore"!


Each performer is given a trophy in appreciation for the time and talent they had shared to make the event a very memorable one.


THE TALENT

Equally talented as the performers is
the host of the show : Debbie Nicastro


DEBBIE NICASTRO celebrates 23 years as a local professional actress and singer with many regional acting credits at our North county theaters such as Star Theater in downtown Oceanside, The Moonlight Amphitheater and the Avo Theater in Vista, and also at Starlight theater in San Diego. Debbie has several commercial and film credits and is one of the vocalist for the Doo-Wop Band "The Legends" with original members of Sha Na Na. She is a local voice teacher and teaches all ages and styles of voice. She is a cantor at Mission San Luis Rey Parish here in Oceanside and has been a member of the church for 20 years. Debbie has been the musical director for many shows including the last performance here at El Camino High which some of you may have seen called "the Wiz" and is currently directing the debut performance of "Rent-the musical" for California Youth Conservatory. Her children Brittany and Bryce are also musicians and vocalist and are now in college now pursuing music and theater degrees. "


GREAT PERFORMERS

 


Maria Cristina Mercado Maria Cristina Mercado, is originally from the Philippines. She had maintained a successful career as a Music Entertainer in Japan from 1979-1989. She founded "Mercado's Talent agency in 1983, becoming a talent promoter who provided entertainers and entertainment in Japan. Maria Cristina speaks four different languages, English, Japanese,Filipino and Spanish. Then she established JPS international in 1992. It has been a successfully providing entertainers and producing show to the present. JPS also provides Karaoke hosts and DJ's various clubs around North County and San Diego,CA.

 

 

 





TATIANA ROBINSON
is an 19 year old singer originally from Vallejo California. She currently attending Mira Costa College. She made top ten at the International Presentation of Performers aka (iPOP!) iSING competition in Las Vegas in 2007. Tatiana has been acting and modeling since 2006 and singing since she was a little girl.

 

 

 

 

 





DEJAH URBANOVITCH 24 years old from San Diego. She graduated Cum Laude at University of Miami, Florida with Major in Political Science and History. A Duchess of Monroe County, Florida, 2nd Degree Black Belt in Tae kwon Do. She loves cooking, arts and crafts on her spare time. She's currently the reigning
Miss Fil- Am.

 

 

 


Gale Abille 17 years old, graduating senior class of 2010 in Fallbrook High School. The sport I play is basketball. I was on the Varsity Basketball Team. I am a rapper as well as a dancer. I volunteer in the ER at Tri-City Medical Center. I was a Homecoming prince, I perform at school pep rallies and I won the "Warrior of the Year" award in school. .




Rodel and Milet Hamto, have been residing in Oceanside since 1992 for their love of weather and diversity of the city. These siblings are currently members of The Trinity Choir of Mission San Luis Rey Parish. Rodel and Milet would like to dedicate their performance to God, to their family and friends, and to all the beautiful people of Oceanside.





Angelica Tolentino
, loves to work animals and the Humane Society to save abandoned and abused animals. She loves to dance and a very loving daughter. She was crowned the Miss Pre-teen Fil-Am in 2007.
 







DANIELLE J. TUAZON
- 14 years old, a freshman at Fallbrook High School. She was Little Miss Fil-Am 2004 and 1st Runner Up for Miss Pre-Teen Fil-Am 2008. She was a finalist for Potter Junior High Talent Competition 2008. She loves to sing, dance and play piano.

 




Jocelyn Atienza attends Fallbrook High School.She lives in Oceanside & is in the process of confirmation at Marine Memorial Chapel & is very active in church. She spends her time with her best friend, Danielle Tuazon; singing and laughing. She loves music & admires YouTube stars.

 






ALYSSA ARJONA
- 16 years old from Escondido. She is a Junior at Mission Hills High School. She is a member of a Travel volleyball team, track and field, All Hip-Hop Varsity team and attends Acting and modeling school. She's currently the 2nd Runner Up for Miss Fil-Am.
 




Doris Rodriguez
, is a wedding and event coordinator in the Philippines and just recently arrived here from the Philippines. .
 


Beverly Pestano- Special Guest Performer

Beverly Pestano, soprano, has peformed the roles of Gretel in Humperdinck's Hansel und Gretel with Opera Theater of the Rockies, Peaseblossom in Britten's A Midsummer Night's Dream and Ida in Strauss' Die Fledermaus with the Boston Conservatory Theater Company. Partial roles include Nerone in L'incoronazione di Poppea, Sophie in Der Rosenkavalier, and Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro with the Boston Conservatory Theater Company and Opera Colorado. In 2008, Ms. Pestano made her chamber performance debut singing Beethoven's Egmont arias and Handel's Messiah with the Chamber Orchestra of the Springs. Beverly has also participated in Francis Fest, an art song recital festival featuring the complete songs of Francis Poulenc, with Boston's prestigious Florestan Recital Project. She holds a Bachelors of Music in Opera Performance, cum laude from the Boston.
