2011 FIL-AM SCHOLARSHIP


The Fil-Am Cultural Association of North San Diego County through its Scholarship Committee (composed of Chair Dee Weber, Nelly Taguba, Felix Saguing, Dulia Candelaria and Belle Limoge) awards five (5) deserving FIL-AM high school seniors from North San Diego schools.

Those who were awarded are as follows:

 

1. HEIDE MAE CARD - recipient of $1000.00 scholarship award
Heide graduated from Oceanside High School and will pursue her Bachelor’s degree majoring in Aerospace Engineering at UCSD in San Diego in the fall. She was born in Sacramento to a full Filipino mother.

She was the vice president of National Honor Society in her school, she tutored math , was a captain of the Robotics Club, was active and became MVP in her school varsity track, etc.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

2. JEANNEL MICLAT - recipient of $ 500.00 scholarship.
Jeannel attended San Pasqual High School in Escondido. She will pursue her Bachelor’s degree majoring in mathematics at St John’s University in the fall. St John’s University has a residential campus and graduate center in New York as well as a campus in Rome, Italy.


3. KEVIN TUQUERO - recipient of $300.00 scholarship.
Kevin graduated from El Camino High School in Oceanside and will pursue associates degree in Biochemistry at Mira Costa College in the fall.

4. HEATHER SILVESTRE - recipient of a $100.00 scholarship.
Heather attended Vista High School in Vista and will pursue a Bachelor’s Degree at UC Davis in the fall majoring in Psychology.

5. SHARISSA SORIANO - is awarded $100.00.
Ms. Soriano attended Mission Hills High School in San Marcos and will be attending Cal State University San Marcos, in the fall majoring in Biology.
