This year, five lovely candidates vied for the title of Mrs. Fil-Am 2009. These candidates are not only beautiful but also of great moral fibers, strength and talent, as they fulfill the role of ambassadress of goodwill by promoting the goals of the organization and soliciting donations in attainment thereof. Aside from the title and runner-ups, there would also be a special award for Best Gown and Viewer's Choice.


THE CORONATION OF MRS. FIL-AM 2009 AND HER COURT


Mrs. Fil-Am 2009 is Nancy Ortiz


Mrs. Fil-Am 2009 Nancy Ortiz received her sash from Dir. Hank Limoge, bouquet from Dir. Dee Weber


(also Mrs. Fil-Am 2005, the first one) ,her trophy from Mrs. Fil-Am Co-Chair and 2008 Mrs. Fil-Am 1st Runner-Up Virgie Flemming

and her crown from 2008 Mrs. Fil-Am Jackie Ortega who is also part of the Mrs.
Fil-Am 2009 committee.

She will also be receiving cash from the proceeds of ticket sales she had garnered.

Jennilyn Esguerra is the Mrs. Fil-Am 2009 1st Runner-Up who received her sash from VP Mely Sivage and trophy from Pete Cruz.


She is also the winner for Best Gown and Viewer's Choice Award. As a runner-up, she will also be receiving cash from the proceeds of the ticket sales she had made and for the votes she received as the Viewer's Choice.


Dorothy Mahimer is the Mrs. Fil-Am 2nd Runner-Up receiving her sash from Dir. Zucette Lumabas and trophy from Robert Bartolo . She will also be receiving cash from the ticket sales she had made.


Mrs. Fil-Am 2009 3rd Runner-Up is Carol Johnson receiving her sash from Auditor Enri Fulmore and trophy from Asst. Sec. Anthony Fulmore.

Little girls got their chance to show their modeling talent with Mrs. Fil-Am 2008 1st Runner-Up and Co-Chair Virgie Flemming as their trainor.

Great vocalist Rodel Hamto provided entertainment and serenaded the candidates as they model in their gorgeous evening gown.


The judges will choose the candidate who best wear her gown.

THE CANDIDATES

Jennylin Esquerra was born in Olongapo City. She moved to US in 1984 when she was 16, with her mom and 2 sisters. She then got married in 1989 and was blessed with two wonderful sons, Chris & Patrick. She and her family moved to California in 2000 and been living here since. Her oldest, Chris, 19 years old will be going to Universal Technology Institute this September, to be a Mechanical Engineer. Her youngest, Patrick, 18 years old, is soon to graduate from Oceanside High School. He plans to go to University of Riverside and will be majoring in Computer Engineering. Jennylin also has a great passion for arts, on her free time, she does calligraphy. She also loves to dance and watching movies with her sons.

Lucy Dickson- Awdeis 37 years old and was born in Ormoc City, Leyte. In 1991, she migrated to Maui, HI, where she met and married her late husband of 14 years, Bill Dickson. During her marriage to Bill, they were blessed with wonderful twins, Mary & Trevor Dickson, now both 16 years old. She then later met and married Corporal Justin Awde. Lucy was an inspiring high school teacher in the Philippines, but has enjoyed working in the food and beverage business in the U.S. She currently works at the Sheraton Resort and Spa in Carlsbad. Lucy enjoys playing golf with her husband, watching her children's school sporting events, rollerblading, playing tennis with the family, gardening, evening walks, and loves going to church.

Carolina Dizon- Johnson is the proud mother of Joshua and Chelsea. She was born and raised in San Fernando Pampanga. Carol graduated from Polytechnic University of the Philippines with a degree in Accounting. For the last 10 years she has been the Accts Payable Manager for Harry Singh & Sons, a position she enjoys very much. She attends and volunteers at Calvary Chapel in Oceanside. Carol enjoys traveling, hiking and snowboarding. She is very healthy oriented and makes time to exercise daily.

Representing Pampanga


Dorothy Mahimer was born in Manduriao, Iloilo City and grew up in Quezon City, Philippines. On February 2004, she immigrated to the United States and resided in Colma California from 2004-2005. She is married to Bill Mahimer from Pasay City, Philippines. She is currently working at MCCS as a Supervisor for the Marine Corps uniform store. On November 2005 she and her husband moved to Oceanside, California. She says besides the beach and the wonderful weather, the city has a lot to offer those who chose to settle here.

Noemi "Nancy" Ortiz is 39 years old and was born and raised in Olongapo City. She came to California at age 21 and has lived in San Diego ever since. A former Portfolio Couture model, she now owns a very successful check cashing business in San Diego. She is married to husband and business partner Bill Logan and also the proud mother of 2 children: Shanell, 8 yrs. old, and William, 6 years old. She also owns and manages several apartment rental properties in San Diego.
